The original Zero Tolerance 0454 was an award-winning collaboration between ZT and custom knife designer Dmitry Sinkevich. But it was also a very Limited Edition knife.

So ZT is doing something about that with the new 0450. While based on the original’s streamlined form and high-performance function, this new and more compact version will be much more readily available. With its 3.25-inch blade and lightweight-yet-stronger-than-steel titanium handles, the 0450 has a sleek and sophisticated look that makes it a perfect EDC.

ZT built it with an S35VN stainless blade that sharpens to a razor edge, holds it well, and can be resharpened easily. The knife opens smoothly and easily with the KVT ball-bearing opening system and built-in flipper. A titanium frame lock with hardened steel lockbar insert ensures solid lock up. Polished pivot hardware just adds to the 0450's refined good looks.

Attractive Blade Finish

When a knife design requires a lighter blade to highlight the steel, Kershaw often applies a satin finish. Satin finishes, whether machine-generated or otherwise, leave faint patterns of lines on the steel, and while they sand away the steel’s brightness, they do not remove it as completely as do other finishes. A satin finish also helps reduce evidence of stains and scratches on the blade. Depending on the knife’s design, Kershaw’s non-reflective stonewashed finish may be either pronounced or subtle, but in both cases, it transforms the blade by creating a fade-resistant, scuffed look that hides smudges and fingerprints. A stonewashed finish, achieved by tumbling a blade with ceramic stones, enhances a blade’s.

Fast Deployment

Using 'caged' ball bearings for smooth blade deployment and overcoming stronger knife detent, the KVT Ball-Bearing Opening System makes one-handed knife opening fast and easy without the need of a mechanical assist. Ball-bearings surround and freely rotate around the pivot. When the user pulls back on the flipper, the blade rotates out of the handle as the ball bearings roll into place.

Secure Locking System

Kershaw’s frame lock design makes knives safer, securer, sturdier and quicker for one-handed blade deployment. The knife handle, or frame, has two metal plates on either side of the blade, and when open, the lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent blade closure. To close the knife blade, push the frame to the side to unlock the blade and fold the blade back into the handle.

Manual Flipper

Flippers on manual-open knives require user to push with quick strength until blade deploys. Some manual flippers disappear when blade deploys, others become a finger guard. Manual flippers appeal to inexperienced users as well as experienced users who prefer a classic, old-style opening. In both cases, ambidextrous flipper works as index finger applies pressure while closed knife sits in palm.

Durable Handle

Titanium is a lightweight metal alloy and it offers excellent corrosion resistance. Heavier than aluminum but still lightweight and strong, titanium is a very sturdy material often used in knife handles, locking liners, or as a blade coating to enhance performance. Titanium is a sleek, stylish, premium material that’s excellent for the ideal everyday carry.

Convenient Pocketclip

Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. A pocketclip with tip-up carry is positioned so the closed knife carries in the pocket with the tip of its blade pointed upwards. A reversible tip-up or tip-down pocketclip allows user to change tip position
